Year 7 Digital Technology
At our school we run Digital Technology as one double period a week. Students are expected to learn theory and produce project work in the application of digital skills.

TOPIC ONE: DATA / Word Processing
Students learn how the binary number system determines how data is stored. Students will investigate different file types and file sizes. They will complete a test and create a Quick Guide to common file types.

TOPIC TWO: HARDWARE & SOFTWARE / Animation
Students will investigate a range of commonly used hardware and software and be assessed in a test. Students will create an animation of an email sent through various network components.
​
TOPIC THREE: SOCIAL & ETHICAL ISSUES / Web Development
Students will use HTML and CSS to create an interactive website. They will investigate a social and ethical issue in relation to digital technology and publish their findings on their website.
​
TOPIC FOUR: PROGRAMMING / Blockly
Students will be introduced to programming in python using the Grok Learning turtle lessons to design a logo.
